Hi all,
Well another request that I would like to apply for anyone interested: With limited free time right now (putting my developing add-ons on halt), I decided to spend time training my inter-planetary flying skills, and instead of flying futuristic space-planes/freighters or manned exploration missions, I decided to look for historic and near-future space probes that fly around the solar system (due to these being my rookie missions, I would try out missions to the Moon/Mars/Venus/NEOs first before hanging out into the asteroid belt and beyond). The problem is I find it difficult to find any lunar landing missions! (probably apt because 36 years has passed since ANYTHING man-made has made a soft landing on the Moon!) I will try out the Surveyor mission, but I would like to try out slightly more challenging missions.
These missions are what I have in mind:
1. The 2 Soviet Lunakhod little rover missions (they cover a LOT of distance on the Moon during their several month missions!)
2. The Soviet lunar sample return missions (would be a challenging mission that test out flights to and from the Moon, with a lot of restrictions)
3. China's Chang'e 3 lunar lander and rover mission (most probably will be the mission to break the no landing record, with a decant payload for geological surveying and other unique tasks to be tried out on the lunar surface. It would also fit in within the scope of my Chinese launchers and bases add-on development, and I can also help with information collection)
4. Several of the promising Google Lunar X-prize team proposals (small rovers means harder challenges, and some of the proposals are totally out of the box!)
5. The under development joint Russian-Indian lunar landing missions
6. A realistic lunar lander/rover/LSR mission that is fictional (or at least proposed) (e.g. there was a proposal for a rover landing in the lunar poles for testing out lunar ice that lost the last New Frontiers class mission selection)
I hope at least one of them will be finished for the use of the whole community in the near future.....
