Project Vandenberg Air Force Base development thread

Okay, sorry I haven't gotten back to you guys yet.

DaveS, that is very useful, thanks so much!

Ky, thanks for the conversion. I still can't figure out how to get the textures to orbiter, my log is saying it can't find the .dds files, but I have converted the files to .dds. I'm honestly confused as how to Sketchup>Blender>Orbiter works really. Do I have to use UV mapping to place to place the textures there?

No problem, although you might want extend the surface tile coverage a bit more north as the PAPI for the 12 end of the runway sits outside the current surface tile coverage.

Here's an updated runway lights definition that makes full use of the extended options available in D3D9Client and D3D11Client:

Code:
RUNWAYLIGHTS
	END1 1563 0.1 418
	END2 -2205 0.1 -3144
    	WIDTH 61
    	COUNT1 40
    	PAPI 18 3 -1711.11 0 ; Close-in aim point
	PAPI 20 3 -1989.98 0 ; Nominal aim point
    	VASI 1.5 188.68 800
	TD_DISP 300.48
	TD_LENGTH 750
	DECISION_DIST 305
END

Could you upload the troublesome msh files here for troubleshooting? Are the dds files in the correct folders?

Just an update for anyone who was interested in this project. I got slapped with something nasty on my computer and had to do a system restore a few weeks ago. My computer is up 100% now, but I lost all my files for the Falcon 9 and Atlas V pads. Even more unfortunate, I was almost done with those pads when it happened - I had planned on a release last weekend. Evidently, I'm quite frustrated with the situation I put myself in, that and my midterms for my first semester of college are coming up so I'm on delay. However, if there's a real need for the pads I can probably have at least the SpaceX Falcon Heavy and Falcon 9 pads finished by the 22nd of October or so if someone can provide detailed, accurate, hi-resolution images, designs for them. Details are scarce, I had trouble finding them and I know a lot of you guys have the 'inside source' as it were.

Any work done on it since the last update? I thought almost every mid-terms should have ended by now? ;)

For fear of stating the obvious. If orbiter says it can't find the texture, check the path to the texture is correct in the mesh file. The last entry in the mesh file will be the texture(s) location and name. So check the file path, the texture name, and the texture file extension is correct. Your problem may be a simple typo or similar.

Kyle, have you recovered from your virus pc crash?

I have a version 3.0 of Vanderberg Air force Base lying on my HD, and I can't recall where I downloaded it from.

I've searched for it on OH, but I had no luck (there is a 2.5 version).
Its txt doc file says nothing about its download link, nor about the author (I just guess it's Kyle).

Was it posted on this thread? On OH? Where?
Thanks.

I've taken a break from the development, simply because I've been so consumed by work for College (13 credit hour load may not seem like much, but there's a lot to do!) But I appreciate the fact you guys are so interested in the development!

By the time my finals are over in a few weeks, I'll probably start to the development up again, using different techniques.

Kyle (or others), can you please answer about where is version 3.0 downloadable from?

The thread is about the development of v.3.0 ;)

The current version on OH is v.2.5

Ok, sorry for the (usual) confusion, and thanks for clarifying.
The 3.0 version on my HD must have been a mistake I made sometime then...
I just compared official 2.5 and my "3.0" file by file and they just match 100%.
