TransX comes with Orbiter and is the most useful MFD for interplanetary travel, albeit quite a bit harder to use than the other MFDs that come with Orbiter
I'd say use IMFD and lots of fuel.
But you still need to know what you are doing, and some of the procedures will be semi-manual.
Are you familiar with the steps needed, starting with Earth escape ?
Get IMFD. It has one of the most if not the most powerful map programs.
If you are a beginner you will be able to get to mars without much trouble.
If you put the effort and learn it you will be able to do incredible things with it.
Trans x is also quite nice and it's worth learning because there are a few things that you can't really do in IMFD. It's a case of having both and using the best tool for the job.
