Brief tutorial explaining how to create a more or less up-to-date (realtime) global Earth cloud texture (Level 7) for use in Orbiter.

Hey I got 8/03/08 cloud map and it looks great! But i thought moving the right side was pointless, i don't get it. Why do we need to do it? Without the copying it seemed fine (everything is at same location) Can you tell me the reason cuz maybe I think its not accurate.

Hmm... my experience showed always a misalignment when the original cloud map wasn't shifted by that given amount. It seemed the real-time cloud map is not centered on the null meridian.
You disabled the cloud texture rotation for sure? Don't know why it works for you without the displacement step. I'll have a closer look at that later the day.

I don't know, i may think im incorrect, here is the pick of mine of 8/03 on 8/04 (I think the map on the date of 8/03 on the web was very late was taken awhile cause it shows bertha on it).

WOW...just tried this out and I,m surprised how good it is. One question though, I presume the clouds stay in the same position, I mean they don,t move. If so, ideally I need to wait for a real shuttle launch date and download the cloud texture, then at least it will be more of a genuine cloud cover for launches etc. The one Ive just made, there is a lot of cloud cover over the States and towards Europe. But yes, I love the idea.
