What would advanced exocivilizations report about the Human Art of Statuary, as seen from outer space?

On Earth, no other social animal species are reported to have reach this technological level yet. The situation on other exoplanets is unknown.

India begins building world’s tallest statue

December 24th, 2016

NEW DELHI: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone on Saturday for what is set to be the world’s tallest statue, as its projected multi-million-dollar cost sparked criticism and an online petition against the project.

The statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji, a 17th-century Hindu ruler who fought the Muslim Mughal dynasty and carved out his own kingdom, will be more than twice the size of the Statue of Liberty and five times higher than Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro.

The structure, a pet project of Hindu nationalist Modi, will rise 192 metres from an island off the western coast of Mumbai in the Arabian Sea.

When finished, it will tower over the 128-metre Spring Temple Buddha in China’s Henan province that is currently the world’s tallest statue.

“Even in the midst of struggle, Shivaji Maharaj remained a torchbearer of good governance,” Modi said at the inaugural event. “So many aspects of his personality inspire us.”

The government of Maharashtra state, of which Mumbai is the capital, is expected to spend some 36 billion rupees ($530 million) on the statue, which is scheduled for completion by 2019.

But the project has drawn brickbats from many people who instead want the government to devote its resources to infrastructure, education and development.

The Spring Temple Buddha compared to the Statue of Liberty, The Motherland Calls and Christ the Redeemer.

1. Spring Temple Buddha (153 meters)

The Spring Temple Buddha in China’s Henan province is the largest statue in the world. The total height of the monument is 153 meter (502 ft) including a 20 meter (66 ft) lotus throne and a 25 meter (82 ft) building. Construction of the Spring Temple Buddha was planned soon after the Bamiyan Buddhas were blown up by the Taliban in Afghanistan. The statue was finished in 2008 and depicts Vairocana Buddha.

2. Laykyun Setkyar (130 meters)

The Laykyun Setkyar is the second tallest statue in the world at 130 meters including a 13.5 meter throne. It was built on top of Po Kaung Hills near the city of Monywa in central Myanmar. At its foot lies the largest reclining Buddha statue in the world. The Laykyun Setkyar was completed in 2008, the reclining Buddha in 1991.

3. Ushiku Daibutsu (120 meters)

The Ushiku Daibutsu is located in the city of Ushiku in Japan. Finished in 1995, the figure is the 3rd largest statue in the world, standing a total of 120 meters (394 feet) high including the 10m (30 ft) base and a 10m (30 ft) high lotus platform. Visitors to the Buddha statue can take an elevator to a platform where an observation deck is situated. The bronze-plated figure depicts Amitabha Buddha, and is also known as Ushiku Arcadia.

4. Cristo-Rei (110 meters)

Inspired by the famous Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, the Cristo-Rei shrine was inaugurated in 1959 after a 10 year building period. The statue is about the same size as its famous model in Rio, 28 meter (92 ft) high, but it stands on a 82 (209 ft) meter tall structure in the form of a gate so the total height of the monument is 110 meters (361 ft). At the base of the statue is an observation deck providing panoramic views of the city of Lisbon.

5. Guan Yin Statue (108 meters)

The 108 meter (354 ft) tall statue of the bodhisattva Guan Yin is situated on the south coast of China’s Hainan island. The statue has three aspects with one side facing inland and the other two facing the South China Sea. The statue took 6 years to build and was finished in 2005.

Captain Malcom Reynolds must be a Muslim in disguise:

Aniconism in Islam - Wikipedia

Aniconism in Islam is a proscription in Islam against the creation of images of sentient beings. The most absolute proscription is of images of God in Islam, followed by depictions of Muhammad, and then Islamic prophets and the relatives of Muhammad, but the depiction of all humans and non-human animals is discouraged in the hadith and by the long tradition of Islamic authorities, especially Sunni ones.

We should all agree that religion is only a tool of human civilizations to control the populations (mind-control). Therefore, the current new golden age in the Human Art of Statuary only reveals the ulterior sinister motives of the Architect, no different than those during the Bronze Age's, Classic Era, Renaissance, Victorian Era, WWI and WWII.

Worse, there is not even the need to cast a statue to achieve a control on the masses (brainwashing), as even a simple obelisk can be fit for the task. See these proliferating like bacteria nowadays!

Monument - Wikipedia

Since humans seem to be a forgetful sort – or perhaps just egotistical – they put up monuments to commemorate all kinds of things – “important” people, events, military victories, deities, or even fictional characters. They seem to especially like to stick them up in the middle of cities, so everyone has to see them and walk or drive around them. Monuments come in all shapes and sizes, beautiful and horrid. Triumphal arches, columns, obelisks, memorials and cenotaphs can be found in almost any large urban metropolis, supposedly infusing the inhabitants with civic and national pride. Or, as is usually the case, serving as nesting places for pigeons and recognizable backgrounds for tourist snapshots.

An obelisk is an upright four-sided pillar that tapers to a point, usually placed to commemorate some important god, person or event. The earliest known obelisks are found in Egypt, which is believed to have invented the form. Obelisks were a prominent feature of Egyptian architecture, and two were generally placed at the entrance to Egyptian temples.

Cleopatra's Needles - the most famous Egyptian obelisks (which were later looted and relocated to various countries around the world) - were constructed of granite and stood over 20 meters in height. While much larger obelisks have since been built - at 167 meters the Washington Monument in the United States is the tallest obelisk in the world - the Egyptian obelisks were extremely impressive feats of architecture and engineering for their time.

Finally, the psychological terror produced by the many alleged "Psychic Towers" are among the worst form of mass violence against civilian populations. Those gigantic fake structures (maskirovkas) have flourished at one time right after the end of the Cold War in every cities, especially on the top of police stations and govermental buildings!

Psychic Tower - Wikipedia

A unique and powerful technological device, each beacon emits a powerful psychic field, crushing the puny minds of those under its influence and flooding them with whatever the one controlling them desires.

Probably the tallest (东方明珠广播电视塔) built right after the end of the Cold War, circa 1992 in Shanghai.

Built on top of a building (西昌-金财大厦), in Xichang (the city of the space center), a typical moked "psychic tower"!

Built on top of the County Police Station and another building (西昌-金财大厦), in Xichang (the city of the space center), two more moked "psychic towers" meant to instill fear!

Actually, Capt. Reynolds was referring to the tendency of rulers, generals, and other officials, to use statues and monuments to glorify themselves and useful "heroes".

Basically, propaganda.

Firefly is a somewhat libertarian TV show, so it's no surprise that the (unwilling) godmother of modern libertarianism, Ayn Rand, also had no use for monuments, especially government-funded ones.

Aniconism is practiced by other religions, including some sects of Christianity, but not to the same extent.
