Well where do I begin....
I decided to take a DGIV to Venus during a launch window that allowed me to travel there in a near Hoffman transfer orbit.
Everything was going fine till I got to Venus, 1st I attempted to do a simple Aerocapture that wasn't inverted. What ended up happening was the temps on the hull red lined but the ship survived the red line long enough for it to start cooling.
Next I did I series of aerobrakes to get my orbit to a ~220x230 orbit. This is when the disaster occurred....
I planned the journey to be just a 1st step for me attempting aerocaptures on other planets. What I failed to calculate was the time between launch windows which I needed due to only having enough dV for another Hoffman back to Earth. I calculated it as being ~1.5 years away then a 3 month journey back to Earth.
Having only 7 months of O2 this can be an issue......:rofl:
So I then calculated the amount of O2 needed and figured out a solution to the problem, everyone except the Engineer(to fix the ship of course) and I are going for an "extended" EVA.
After this I awaited the long duration for the Launch window and then did my TEI back to Earth.
Upon arrival at Earth I had several issues:
1. I only had enough O2 for 14 more days(cutting it VERY close).
2. I only had enough fuel left for a 5-7 second burn before I would drain the RCS more then the redline needed for reentry.
3. I was in a very bad inc of 95 degrees.
I solved these problems by my first attempt at complex aerocapture/braking techniques. The 1st pass I just did an aerocapture as I was worried about heat. On the 2nd and subsequent passes I aerobraked at a 80 degree bank to get my orbit to a inc to an easier to handle 55 degrees.
The last problem occured when I had just enough fuel in my RCS for reentry and nothing in my main. What made it worse was I was beyond the point of no return of stopping my aerobraking. I was at an ApA of 130km and a PeA of 55km......bad
I found out with a very G-Heavy reentry at specific AoA's I could make wideawake international.... barely. My crewmate G-LOCed when we sustained 8 G's but I survived. After reentry I pitched down to see wideawake in the distance :speakcool:. I came in a little short but thanks to having very little fuel my gear survived the 7m/s impact.
To give you an idea of how close it was, my O2 was at 2% and my fuel when transferred into the maintank from RCS got me to the next stripe on the runway. While this wasn't a full disaster, but by my faults I deemed it so.... losing 3 people and all.....
By the way...... THANK YOU creator of Aerobrake..... I wouldn't of done it without that mfd.

That is umm........ better than what I could manage (which says a lot :rofl
Another disaster was sending my almost completed station into reentry it broke up and pulverized the White House and NYC along with London in the U.K. I had planned it to crash by a Deltaglider IV which was carrying nukes hit London. No more London lol.

launched Apollo 13 from amso the first time, with autopilot.. then when orbit insertion should take place, it started to pitch down and continue to thrust. I was thinking: well, that's a weird trajectory they flew back then.. I missed the fact the little AP flag wasn't on anymore.. at about 50k altitude.. boom! Apollo 13 went worse than it ever did, lol.
After that I tried a few times more, but the AP seems to never complete te insertion.. (I suspect it doesn't like my low frame-rate, it looses track of the lunar plane and then it switches off. I have to do it manually, which is a bit tricky, with the low thrust of the last stage.. any tips on this are welcome.. I can't seem to raise periapsis in time, so apoapsis raises to about 1000km before periapsis is outside the atmosphere.

Random failhurricane.
I was playing with my shiny new firefly sport and used the super firefly drive... inside the atmosphere. I blew up half of Florida that day:lol:!
I also remember a situation involving large amounts of alcohol and a DGIV with warp engines, Me and my friends were boozed up and we decided to see what would happen if we crashed a DGIV into Mars at WARP NINE. the last thing that I saw was 3+ Kilometres of crust being stripped off of Mars.:rofl:

I never considered that as a possable solution before, thanks for the idea.

To add to my list of destruction:
- Dropped a nuclear warhead on Wisconsin.
- Changing Earth's axial tilt to 90 degrees, creating extreme seasons killing off all advanced life.
- Tidally locking the Earth to the Sun, freezing the western hemisphere.
- Changing Earth's rotation to a 1 second long rotational period. In reality, the mere force of accelerating Earth to this rotational velocity would rip it apart.
- Placing Earth within Jupiter's roche radius.
- Placing Earth in a 3-day orbit around the sun. Needless to say, the old Blue Marble would have turned into a lava ball.
- Placing all planets in the solar system at a 1 AU orbit. In reality this arrangement would be extremely unstable and lead to either massive collisions, or planets being thrown into the sun or out of the system.
Most of these were achieved by editing CFGs.
I think I've done my fair share of destruction. Now to do more. :lol:

My worst disaster by far is bringing a fully loaded XR5 (~900mT) for a direct re-entry from Jupiter and messing up my calculations, so i burn up at 10km/s over east America, spreading 450 tons of fuel in cargo over most of the USA.
But it must have been one hell of a pritty fire ball from the ground :camera:

you can over load it easly, but you wont be able to take off from earth with 450, i was bring a load from one of Jupiters moons.

Actually it is possible to lift 800 tons of cargo from Earth to LEO with XR5 if you use hover and RCS engines to help rotate the ship and also have some extra scram fuel in bay.

Probably the worst thing I can remember doing was during a scenario in which I launched STS-31 (Discovery's deployment of the Hubble Telescope) with a full payload. I went through half an hour's worth of countdown, through the engine start sequence, three, two, one, liftoff! We have a liftoff! Discovery has cleared the tower! Houston, roll program!
And then in my haste to reach across the keyboard to grab a mug of coffee I sort of inadvertently brushed against the J key.

"Uh... SRB separation."
*cue two SRBs skywriting gibberish all over the place*
"Houston, negative vertical velocity."
"Uh, roger, we recommend you abort."

I once flew an XR2 to Mars, tried to land at Olympus base but overshot and landed about 50 km away. I then decided that, since I didn't have much fuel left, the best way to get to the base would be to taxi rather than fly. It would have worked fine if I'd hit the brakes about 2 km earlier.
Then there was the time I tried a reentry in the HyperDart, had way too much speed when I passed KSC, so diverted to Wideawake. I was halfway there when I noticed the airbrakes were still on, but by then I has already lost too much speed. Used up all the fuel in the main and OMS tanks to try and extend my glide a bit, but it wasn't enough. I ended up in the ocean, within sight of the runway.
Then there was the time I tried a reentry in the HyperDart, had way too much speed when I passed KSC, so diverted to Wideawake. The worst thing I've done was when I was trying to fly a space shuttle for the first time. I was trying to reenter, and I was new at this, I had the thrusters on max going to earth, that is when I found out how to EVA. He got a good view of the shuttle burning up. while he just sat there, floating.........

I also have run the "recovery helicopter" scenario in AMSO, and while trying to land on the carrier, hit the T key. Cue time warp... then helicopter skittering across the ocean.... then bounding into space. By the time I had returned to 1x time, the chopper was spinning at 2,000 rpm somewhere beyond the orbit of Saturn. Houston, negative recovery of the command module... over...
