-----Posted Added-----

fixed it I just needed to close explorer.exe and re launch it

Restart your computer.

Assuming you use Windows:
I don't recommend it, but if you open your task manager and do end task on explorer.exe you computer might be able to recover by restarting that task.

EDIT: yay, you fixed it!

yes I just restarted the explorer and it works fine :) and I use Widows Vista 64 Bit

EDIT: wow my internet is slow tonight :(

I have had the clock disappear on me before (and any progress on the astrovan?)

I occasionally have my volume control icon dissappear, but I apparently never notice when it dissappears. Virus? Windows bug? I really don't know. It's just plain annoying sometimes!
And it doesn't matter if I try to mess with the taskbar settings, I can't ever fix it. I could have the icon set to be 'always' there, but it doesn't do anything. It just either shows up when it wants to, or more likely after I restart. (I don't know when it comes back either :P) I have lots of other random XP bugs show up also. One that I've had come up in Windows computers for years is that after running a program and closing it down, all of the computer icons become rearranged. ie: Orbiter may display the Internet Explorer icon, My Computer may have the Recycle Bin icon, etc. Another thing I've had on only this computer is that occasionally on startup my 'Language bar' toolbar may be in a weird place on my taskbar, my area for 'program bars' (the little boxes on your taskbar that show what is open and what is minimized) can be in a weird place, and I can have some 'extra' empty toolbar areas on my taskbar which are revealed by unlocking my taskbar. Usually I find that I have something like 3 'Language bar' toolbars checked when I right-click the taskbar and check what toolbars are open. Sometimes unchecking these extra toolbars doesn't completely fix things though. :P
Why Bill Gates, WHY?!

well to fix the clock problem I disabled it than enabled it

It's getting really bad if some anti-bug program always wants to install and when some strange desktop icons appear. I had that on my old PC.

Go into the extra tab on the Orbiter Launchpad go under debugging options, and look at the Orbiter Shutdown options. Select either Deallocate Memory, or Terminate Orbiter session. Terminate means the launchpad won't pop back up after you exit, but in my experience, those two options always leave the taskbar no matter how many times you enter and exit Orbiter.

Not sure if this will help your problem or not. Try this:

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm Download and run link No. 117. You can also try No. 240.

***Note: The above link modifies the Windows registry, which can potentially damage your Windows installation. Always export your registry prior to making changes by going to Start>Run, type regedit and hit Enter. In Regedit, go to File>Export and select where you want the backup to be saved. Perform at your own risk, and only if you know what you are doing.

Number 240 is intended to resolve an issue with tabs for open programs not showing up on the taskbar, but it also clears the streams for notification area icons as well, which is where the volume icon & clock reside. As a result, I have seen this fix issues with notification area icons as well, which is why I mentioned it.

Hope this helps
