Essentially then, you want to take an existing shuttle, Atlantis or SSU or whatever... And then re-paint the textures to change them from grey, to err, grey?
you should be able to do this in photoshop or any image editor that can handle .dds format. be sure to check and see if you're allowed to do this (it'll either say in the readme or ask the person who created the model/textures) before you do anything and certainly before you publish your skin, even if its just a change of logo or whatever the difference might be.
