The only problem I've had with Yuri's space elevator is the relatively miserable FPS due to the super high poly count. Otherwise, it's one of the most amazing addons evar.

For some REAL fun, load your ship of choice onto the space elevator, run it all the way to the top, and set up transx with the PeA at your altitude. Then, detach when you pass Pe and enjoy your free delta-v. Even though you have to change plane and add additional prograde velocity, you still come out WAY ahead.
