Hi,
I am an Orbiter beginner with little experience but was able to dock Deltaglider to ISS and MIR. That was very rewarding ! !

Then decided to install Soyuz v1.0.20160215 and selected approaching ISS to practice docking.

When i click on the / to select rotation or translation nothing happens. Also, when pressing F8 nothing happens.

Please, can someone take a look at the attached Log file and provide any feedback?

Thanks in advance for any Help,

Termi678

Hello,

Can you provide a link to that addon ?

Also you should tidy up the surface bases, because it seems there are a lot of errors related to them :

For translation anyway, The numpad still should control roll, pitch and yaw (toggled using the [/] key)
As far as the view inside, you need to use the periscope view [C] and [Shift][C] to toggle one view from another.

N Molson,

As always, thanks for your quick reply, really appreciate your help ! !
The link for that add on is:

Ah, one more thing: I do not understand what you mean by tidy up the surface bases?
Please, pardon my ignorance. Can you elaborate a little about how to do that?
Thanks again,

PhantomCruiser,

Tried using the periscope view C and [Shift][C] to toggle the views and it worked fine. However, did not notice any difference with the

If i follow this convention correctly, when pressing 3, it means up on the Y axis and E down on the Y axis but i do not see any movement at all. Also, when pressing the / key, i don't hear anything about rotation or translation modes.

It seems to me that docking the Soyus is really difficult for a beginner even when i am close to the ISS.

Wish there was a good tutorial on this subject.
Will keep trying, this is really a baby steps operation even when reading the manual

Again, really appreciate your help, it always raises my learning curve

Well it seems that there are issues with some base configuration files. Don't forget to read the documentation (/doc folder) ; Orbiter has an extensive one. Bases configuration files are stored in Earth/base folder. Sometimes in the Earth.cfg file too. Its a good practice to keep track of what goes on in there, as you install addons. Spelling or dependencies errors can lead to crashes in some cases.

N Molson,
Will try reading the documentation to see if i can at least fix some of the base config files.

I would really love to practice the Soyuz docking procedure. The Soyuz file Docked to ISS loads fine and i can undock quite easily, then i back out a few hundred meters and try docking again but it gets really confusing because when i click the / nothing happens.

Don't know when rotation or translation are enable. I got lots of reading to do.

Thanks for all your help and valuable tips,

Yes, as you might have seen in the news forum section Soyuz-MS14 missed its automated docking attempt to the ISS earlier today. So don't feel bad if you have trouble ! Ripley posted the video replay, might give you some hints. I think we can safely say Orbiter is quite realistic ! Welcome in the elite ! :hailprobe:

Yes, i heard the news. The soyuz also carries an experimental robot and it did failed to lock onto guidance signals, so they decided to abort when it was only 300 ft away from the ISS docking port.
They are blaming it on a faulty amplifier (inside the ISS) that sends the signal to an approaching soyuz to help with the proper approach trajectory.

Well so far i have missed all of my approaches and i am going to also blame it on that faulty ISS amplifier ! ! LOL

N Molson,
One quick question on Reinstalling Soyuz on ORBITER 2010 fresh install?
Tried to fix the surface bases files on Config/Spaceports/Earth/Baikonur, erased the repeated directories then use notepad to delete all the repeated entries on Config/Earth, but this didn’t fix the Syntax error in SURFBASE list. It is still there.

Performed a clean install of ORBITER 2010 including Orbiter Sound 4.0 and DeltaGliderIV-3 and would like to reinstall the Soyuz files again.

Do you know if these are the correct files to install Soyuz?
Soyuz v1.0.20160215 - Spaceports v1.1.20160214 – ISS V3.2

Oh, by the way as you probably know they tried docking Soyuz to the ISS again and it was a no go, now they wanna retry in a different docking port. It sounds like what i was trying to do yesterday, any docking port will be fine for me?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions/comments.
