sup!...im doing this scenario you can get from orbithangar

anyway...i refueled, undocked and then i aligned planes with asteroid 1. i thought i should then just try and get to it the same way as i get to orbiting space stations but seems i cant select it as a target on sync orbit..any1 know what im meant to do to get to it.

Use TransX.
I'd also recommend practicing on Phobos and Deimos first.

Also, use this equation, to stop at the asteroid with zero velocity:
s = v^2 / (2 * a)
where:
v is your current velocity w.r.t. the asteroid,
a is your max decceleration,
s is the distance at which you should apply this thrust opposite to the asteroid
The equation is available in the Equation MFD, movement page.
Use Surface MFD to obtain the velocity and +90 pitch direction

I think that you could also use TransX's maneuver mode to stop at the asteroid

And the asteroid is a bit small to destroy earth.
I always tried to create an asteroid in solar orbit that hits earth, but the lowest flyby I had were 12000km.
