Hi all,

I was (and I mean was) doing a flight to Mercury, and used IMFD as normal, doing MCCs with target-intercept and map. I was about 200K from intercepting Mercury, when I noticed a very large Sun slide into view. I felt the gravitational forces after, and shortly, disappeared in a could of smoke.

Question: Does IMFD know not to send you flying straight into the Sun during transfers?

No, it doesn't. If you follow the proceedure given in the tutorial you should get nowhere near the sun. You are setting up the trip wrong - not in a window for a Hohman type transfer. Also, check the trajectory on Target Intercept and make sure it isn't going someplace bad.

IMFD would have to try pretty hard to crash you into the sun...

IMFD also don't cares, if your course leads trough a planet.
I learned this hard on an orbital intercept course, as my altitude becomes smaller and smaller. ;)
So check your PeA in the "Course" view of IMFD!
