I've been out of the Orbiter fold for a while, having gone back to Mac about 6 years ago.

Recent events may soon allow me the ability to purchase a second computer, but I want a good system that's not too expensive, so I can finally run Orbiter with a decent frame rate!

Anybody got any recommendations?

Thanks in advance!

Disclaimer: This is not meant to start an OS religion debate.

I've been running Orbiter on my MacBook Pro (mid-2012 version) under Windows XP (soon to upgrade to Windows 7) on a Boot Camp partition. Let me know if you want more details.

Running Orbiter with the new graphics client will make it run faster.

Can't you smell my T levels?
Running Orbiter with the new graphics client will make it run faster.
But that concerns DirectX9 client. For DX11, you'll of course need a better graphics card, that supports DX11.
By the way, DX9 should even run on Mac through Wine with a frame rate compared to native DX7 client.

It sounded like the OP was looking to get a 2nd computer, windows/intel. And was asking for advice on that future purchase.

Would you be interested in a laptop or desktop?
