I was walking at about 2:45 am (give or take, local time) in Cambridge, MA, and I happened to see something streak across the sky. It glowed white, and left a bright orange trail, and broke up into at least 3 pieces before going dark. Is more likely to have been a reentering satellite, or a meteorite? What metals tend to make orange flames?

No satellites reentered recently, last was a bunch of debris from Cosmos 2421, so I'd guess it was a meteorite.

Maybe some late Perseids? (although there's ALWAYS a chance of some random dust from anywhere reentering)
