NFL preseason games start today. Anyone else going to follow the upcoming season?

I was thinking a spacecraft could do a full mission (>1 month) there, but then I saw GOCE, which was around 255 kilometers and STILL had to deal with atmospheric decay.

So, a better question would be, just how long could you stay in orbit if you started at a 185 circular orbit?

This whole thing started, by the way, because I noticed Silverbird's default deployment altitude was a 185 km orbit. I thought that was a low orbit to deploy into, even if the payload could maneuver itself.

Fobos-Grunt took four days to come down from roughly 160x200 to reentry. So four to five days, maybe a week if you're lucky. Factors are your payload and solar activity.

Googled a bunch or graphs. Looks like around a week. Easily less, maybe a little more. Highly variable of course.

Falcons? Meh. Could be worse. One of my coworkers roots for the Dolphins. We tease him mercilessly about that. :P

I already know they're American football teams, and I live in the Bay Area (I even pointed out the forty in 49ers, so it's not like I don't recognize), but I was trying to point out "Falcons" and "Niners"

Heh, sorry. Didn't click for me until after I replied.

If you check the bottom of O-F's main page, you will see that the "most users ever online" was 1051 on January 4 of this year. What happened on that day?

That's odd. It used to be a much higher number on a different day (in 2008, IIRC). Might want to ask Xyon about that.
