You do realize that the modern carriers are much larger, right? Even so, it takes someone with a real pair of stones to 'recover' an aircraft on such a small space (the sweet spot for an OK-3 wire IS pretty small).

I had the great pleasure to see the Blue Angles "homecoming" airshow this past weekend, I didn't realize how much I missed the sound of freedom.
And I saw the GEICO Skytypers for the first time, I was very impressed. Those guys put on a very good show.

what did you do to get your picture taken with the mayor?

Pretty much nothing. I was told to make a video presentation for the mayor for when he visited my school. I also had to take pictures of him speaking. After the event ended, I walked over to him, said hi, had a conversation with him, and got the pic taken after that. Since I'm pretty much my school's photographer, I get to go to any event.
