Epic fast way to make normal maps for space stations.

1: make greeble plane:

2: texture it with gradient:

3: convert top down render to normal map

Random comment: if armpits are also called "underarms", than why aren't shoulders also called "overarms?

Because "overarm" has already been taken as the name a swimming stroke, maybe? If there was an underarm stroke, incidentally, would it be the swimming equivalent of reverse gear?

Now please no breaststroke jokes or the UK porn filter will go off.

Wait a minute...dammit.

You mean the one about the blonde that filed a complaint because all the other contestants used their arms?
:leaving:

A gasoline pump in Hurst, TX according to imgur. I never actually thought I'd see this in my lifetime.

Currently nearly the same in Austria...except it's for one liter and not a gallon.

Yay! If launch dates remain static, SMAP and the DSCOVR spacecraft will both be launching on the same date, which is also my birthday!

Have to say, DSCOVR will have my attention more than SMAP, though I wonder how I'm going to watch both launch webcast...

....and if it holds up, there's also a Japanese spysat launch early on the same day, the next Proton on the next day, and an ISS EVA the day before.

But it's also late January so.... :uhh:

In other news, it looks like that the distinction of December 31 being the only day of the year without any satellite launches ever is going to be broken tomorrow.... :hmm:

In other news, I have repeatedly confirm that I suck at playing Age of Empires when I got a Turks' army twice as many units as an easy CPU opponent do invading the opponent's base camp and got completely destroyed before even reaching the city center.....many times after repeating the scenario with different tactics.

We're at 97 cents (CAD) a litre here. It's a magical thing, watching the volume increase faster than the cost.

I'm sure it'll bounce back with interest in the near future, though.

Meanwhile in Moscow, the gas prices rose 5% since September, continuing their everlasting climb.
There was a dent when Putin got asked why the prices are rising when the oil dropped to half it's value, but it have recovered since then.

Of course if you take the dollar price into account, then they have actually dropped by about a half, but we get our incomes in rubles here, so nobody cares.

Exactly the same here in Québec. My local gas station is at 1,014$/L, all taxes are included. We have a 5% tax for Canada, a 9,975% for Québec, 10 cents/L excise taxes from Canada and a 15,35 cents/L fuel tax from Québec. Taxes represents around a third of the price here. The highest price I saw was 1,499$/L, this summer.

Regular prices in the DFW area are currently around $1.90.

There's a local grocery chain, however, that offers gas discounts at their pumps based on grocery purchases. This may be one of their pumps.
