Sad to see him go, I never owned a ZX80, but I knew a lot of folk who did.

My first micro was from Sir Clive.
ZX-81. Did build an external keyboard + case for it later on. Which had at least the same price as the computer
It was incredible to get a micro-computer affordable those days! Thanks again Sir Clive!

I did buy the Z30 audio amp and put in my Land-Rover. Seemed to run very hot, lasted a few months, might have over driven it.

My first home computer was a clone of ZX Spectrum 48K.

My first computer was a zx81 kit, to which I added a real keyboard, and 32k of memory. Still have it somewhere. I developed a Z80 assembler in Basic on it, also a Forth Interpreter. This could have got me into my software development career.
My wife won a Spectrum in a crossword competition in an Astrology magazine, The third one worked and ended up with a microdrive and printer interface.

This forum is the first I've heard of the passing of Sir Clive. R.I.P. good Sir knight!

I ordered a ZX-81 kit in 1983. They were out of stock, so i received a fully assembled one. Taught myself BASIC and the rudiments of assembly language.
