I've got an old HP a450n computer from 2004 that has served me well throughout the years. The HD crashed two Christmases ago along with the GeForce5200 graphics card. And last night, my PS/2 mouse finally went the way of the Dodo. Specifically it was the PS/2 port cause I got a new mouse and it didn't work PS/2 either, but USB performs well.
So getting to the point now, should I be expecting the keyboard PS/2 port to go bye bye anytime soon? Or are the two ports completely unrelated from each other?
Thanks,
Zat

Hard to tell... 2004 isn't realy THAT old. In view of hardware developement it is of course, but in view of life expectation of parts, 4 year is not a long time. I had machines that I ran for considerably longer, and they never had any hardware failures.

Of course HP is not really top notch hardware, but still... frying a PS/2 port after only 4 years? And a GForce 5200 (presumably NVidia) after only 2?? That Board seems to screw around quite a bit!

Next time, try to not buy an HP. if you can, avoid Dell too...

looking at all your fried parts, I'd rather change the board before it gets the chance to fry some more.
