Problem with perilune adjustment burn

I'm following Go Play In Space through the Lunar Transfer scenario and when I went to do my perilune adjustment burn, I noticed my perilune was -2000km. I had to do a huge prograde burn to get it barely positive which depleted more than a tenth of my fuel tank. Any idea how this could've happened?

I'm not sure how you got a -2000km perilune since the Moon's radius is only 1737km.

I can't recall that tutorial in detail, but I assume you are approaching the moon from a long way out on a hyperbolic orbit. If so, you may find you use less fuel by burning perpendicular to your trajectory (instead of prograde/retrograde).

Perhaps it was more like 1700km. Thanks for the help, I'll try that tomorrow.
