*tut*, while they're all wandering off, they've failed to notice the little green martian dude who has stolen the craft and run off with it...

Phoenix has finally reached the Northern Martian surface after a trip spanning many millions of miles. The successful touchdown is hopefully a sign of the times and of good fortune to many future Mars missions. Humanity once again reaches forth from our native cradle of life seeking to expand our knowledge of the natural universe with increasingly great achievements such as this!

Now that its safely landed, what if it really discovers past or present life buried in mars icy soil? ;)

What does that make the percentage of successful landings?

This is the part of NASA that does not waste money. Pop some champagne, JPL, you done good.

Thanks! (Although I had no involvement with Phoenix)

I have coworkers who worked on the biobarrier and arm, so I have to wait for the first set of pictures to confirm the biobarrier deployment before I congratulate anyone.

BTW - love the new forums.

So I see the ops team all standing around laughing, but aren't there some post-landing activities or commanding to do? I would think you have some configuring of the machine to do, especially solar panel deployment and stuff.
