Orulex only creating small hills, Please Help.

Afternoon everyone. This is my first Orbiter post since the original forums were locked, and hopefully this is a simple fix...

I've been using Orulex since it first came out, it's wonderful artlav, and I recently had to reinstall orbiter and orulex since it's accidental deletion from my HD -- this was about a month ago, and neither Orbiter nor Orulex have been updated since then as I'm quite sure I was using Orulex 1.0 then too. The problem is, Orulex (1.0) now only creates small rolling hills on the moon and elsewhere, and on earth the only elevation change visible is a cliff off the coast of the Kennedy Space Centre and no where else. Installing the heightmaps does nothing for any planet or moon.

I've messed with the config program and nothing I change seems to do a terrible lot, most importantly I can't get the elevation to change at all. I've reinstalled many times, even sterile base installations fail to act any differently.

I love this module, truly it's spoiled me as I feel Orbiter loses an immense amount of it's immersion without it. I can't find any previous releases of Orulex to test either, regardless I'd love to get this working again... I've searched the forums and can't find anyone else having this issue. I've redownloaded the add-on many times and nothing changes. I'm very greatful for any advice... thanks!

I'm entirely at a loss, I don't know what else to try... even an Oribter isntallation of JUST the base package still fails to work. Once again the config editor (hell, even editing ~.cfg file itself doesn't help) won't change anything.

Well, the first advice is to get the newer May 2008 version - http://orbiter-forum.com/showthread.php?t=2007 , it should be somewhat faster and better-looking than the 1.0 with lesser bugs (as i hope, since noone proved otherwise yet).
The link in the thread above also goes to all the heightmaps and additional data and modules needed.

So, i assume that you downloaded and used the correct heightmaps and set the thing right, which is advisable to be checked by you so as to make that assumption useful.

Now, if the problem persists under that assumption, some more feedback is needed, with obvious implication that the more details you post, the higher is the chance for the problem to be solved:

0. Is there crater-like structures around surface bases?

1. Run Orbiter on Earth with Orulex on, go around for a minute (till loaded and running in equilibrium), then exit and post your orulex.log file.

2. Does Moon's Brighton beach base surroundings look anything like the picture below?

3. What do you see, if you set terrain mode in the World Studio's map with Earth selected? Is there an Earth map-looking green construct like in the first picture, or something blatantly fractal, like in the second one?

4. In the "Nereid from afar" scenario, does it looks like an asteroid, or a sphere with barely noticeable bumps?
Correct look: (if it stuck with loading string, zoom in a bit, then zoom out)

5. Please post your orulex earth.cfg and moon.cfg.
If you made no changes to them, this step is irrelevant.

Thank you so much for replying artlav, I'm gathering this data now. I CAN tell you that specific bases on the Moon AND the Earth do have craters where the bases are. It's just everything else is a small hill. Fifteen minutes and I'll update this.

Artlav, first let me compliment you on this wonderful add-on, second let me mention I've worked in IT for a few years and detest stupid computer users. With that said... I'm an idiot it seems, everything you just had me do worked perfectly, put simply I think it's my fault...

Either:
A: I've been accustomed to .9.4
B: I'm quite stupid
C: An unhealthy mix of both.

Maybe D: Sometimes inattentive?
I've asked for a orulex.log after flying, not orulex.cfg.

Sometimes a small bit of unatentiveness could help miss an elephant in a brightly lit room by otherwise sane and sightful man.

If i got it right, everything work fine now?
Then, if yes, it might just be the case we call here "the problem is afraid of the repairman".

Clearly something is wrong above, yes? I say this because lvl10 is installed, where as above it shows lvl10 as possibly not there?

As for D: Perhaps. My wrongly posting of the .cfg was stupid. It's my fault entirely. To explain my (faulty?) reasons for originally posting I'm pretty sure I was mistaken and was used to either .9.4 or an earlier version with far more pronounced elevations (I remember the .7 release or so was quite radical). However the logfile I posted above doesn't seem quite so kosher.

No, these are default presets for non-installed local heightmaps failing to load, that is what is expected.
Otherwise, no errors visible either in the log, or in the description.

I am also having a problem with Orulex, when i am at any base other than KSC, the base is in a large crater. That would be fine if half of the base wasn' t underground! is there any patch or something that can fix this?
