1965 NASA study of interplanetary spacecraft powered by nuclear bombs. CVE-Lite compatible, all-purpose interplanetary vessels. Includes 10-meter Mars craft, 20-meter Jupiter/Saturn craft, and chemical-fuel lander.

Bugfix v1.22:  I accidentally included AtomicDryad's fork of the Orion20m project as Orion20m.dll.  I hadn't intended to do this, as his fork is his, and should be updated at his own pace.  v1.22 includes my (no HUD info) version; then, if desired, overwrite with AtomicDryad's latest version of Orion 2011.  If that's what you wanted and you've already downloaded v1.21, you're good for now and don't need v1.22.

Pros: nuclear blast drive system, easy to handle, aux vehicles
Cons: scaling seems a bit off, could be other vessels
Review:
Imagine a spacecraft built in the early 60's that could fly all the way to Saturn and back in one stage and be reusable. Powered by nuclear bombs. And the engineers were serious, they really almost did this! The animation of the nuke blast drive with working pusher plate is great work, the lander vehicles are quite adequate and fun to fly, and the whole thing is based on real physics, so you're not "cheating" your way to other planets. Perhaps a future version could use an unmanned cargo version to deliver large hab modules in advance of manned ships. Overall great work.

Has anyone tried this with the latest Orbiter? With Orbiter 2010-P1, I find the ships are invisible. Also, when i enter the cockpit there's no propellant in the tank.
I tried installing the CVE-lite library and Velcro rockets in the hope I was just missing an obscure file, but no dice.
N.B. I haven't tried this add-on with any other Orbiter versions, so I can't comment on them.

Me too, Tycho6. I try to install a clean version 2010-p1, but does not appear. I try to install the first Orion, then the new [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=4661"]Stage.dll for Orbiter 2010[/ame], but the problem continue.

CVE-lite based ships are invisible in orbiter 2010 and 2010-P1.

Fixed. At least the 20m ship. Except for the hotkey handler (if anyone wants to tell me why clbkConsumeBufferedKey is utterly ignored that would be great). Also orbitersound is *****ing about an old SDK, this - as well as the other ships - will be fixed Real Soon(tm).

The ship is now visible and noisy, as it should be! I've adjusted the texture and replaced the explosion sound, but one can simply copy the .dll over the original Orion 1.2 if they prefer the old. I'm considering integrating payloadmanager (or velcro if it gets scenario editor functionality), and improving the model, as soon as the bugs are worked out.

A standalone, precompiled version can be found here: http://orbiterfixes.googlecode.com/files/orion20m-2010fix.zip
The full source is included, as the Orions are thankfully GPL'ed addons.

For those curious about what needs to be done to fix invisible CVEL ships, see: http://code.google.com/p/orbiterfix...tersdk/samples/orion-20m-2010fix/fix.diff?r=2

I only just checked back on this to see if anyone had said something new, and I discover there's a whole new Orion!
Fantastic job, atomicdryad! Many thanks for this.

Update v1.22: For v1.21, I accidentally included AtomicDryad's Orion20m.dll instead of my own. That's because I was using it; I like it; but it's certainly not fair to AtomicDryad as he should be able to update on his own schedule without me distributing other versions of his code.

Thus, v1.22 is my 10-meter, 20-meter, and lander, then, if desired, get AtomicDryad's Orion 2011 with the improved HUD and functionality. Whew! I apologize to everyone for the confusion, and I apologize to AtomicDryad for stepping on his distribution. He didn't say anything, mind, but I certainly didn't intend to do that.

AWESOME

I love you sputnik, thanks for the amazing gift! Love your work. Always dreamed of aerobreaking in Saturn with your Orion and using the neutronic to land!
Its really a dream come true having this completely real design to fly to the solar system. So much potential and imagination! Hail Freeman! I really day dream about this ship day in day out. Thank you. I always knew Einstein was a crook for lack of imagination and secular jews boosting him to stardom.

Freeman was a real revolutionaire that changed the face of the universe with endless frontiers for humanity to challenge.
You make us all appreciate the marvels of this amazing work much more.

Some improvements: in the saturn arrival scenario the Clark has no fuel. I edited the scenario but you can fix the next update for the more impaired players.

Please how to add the nerva rocket too so I can launch from Earth?

Is the 20m is not the 200 people orion. How difficult is it to make that work in Orbiter?
