Orbiter "wind tunnel"

Yes, it is possible to configure it so as to disable damage.

For what it's worth, this is unneccessary. There are beta versions of the XR ships available here:

For Orbiter 2009 which address just this issue (otherwise the ships are, I believe, identical to the .0 releases).

This is a cool idea for a project, I am keen to see where it leads.

Actually, it was necessary to disable the damage system of XR2. I did a test on orbiter 2006p1, at the (arbitrary and source set) altitude of 10km, and It really did not like being at mach 5.1 :) that low. The nose temperature went to 15000K, but it suffered a top hull breach.

I ran the test at Mach numbers between 0.1 and 5.1 and AOA between -10° and 30°. Here is the result:

No XR2's were harmed in any way during this test run, as damaged was disabled :).

Thank you :). The plugin is running, but orbithangar does not allow addons for rc1.

Hello Calsir,
I'll try to find all the topics - and the program itself made by Radu Poenaru - cited by Jarmonik, posted on the old forum, and I'll address them to you by mail.

Edit:

I found the topics but, alas, the ocfd050921 zip archive is corrupt. If I can extract some files, the program itself, ocfd.exe, is not accessible (crc error). I tried to access to it in dos mode (testdisk), but the result is identical. This is not the only archive which I have had problems of this kind in the past. There are a few touchy repair software archives and I've already used some of them but they have limitations. I will try. But I can send the topics and the zip to you when you want.

Yes, please. It would be useful to see the literature :). If you cannot send me the zip via personal message, tell me so that I can send you my email address.

Hello Calsir,

I do not always well understand all these possibility of contact on this forum ( and elsewhere to :) ) but, at least, give me your email in my private box on the forum and I will send you the zip. I managed to repair the archive and get ofcd.exe but this operation is probably superficial for this reason that when I try to run it, I have a message saying that is not a win32 valid application .

So...
