The syntax error I think occurs with the router not interfacing correctly. I am trying to port forward the IP address... but my router says it is a not a local IP address WTF?

Lord Wasteland: Stop. Take a breath. Take another one.

Now: please explain in clear words and with more than 2 sentences what happens on your machine.

1. What program did you start that gives you syntax error?
2. Is there more information regarding that syntax error? If so, please copy&paste the whole text here.
3. What are you trying to achieve? Starting OMP server? Joining a session?

If you fail to feed us enough information to even start helping you, chances are most of us will simply ignore your calls for help, because neither you nor we benefit from guessing. In addition, prolonged guessing will only build up frustration on your side.

regards,
Face

The program that starts is the basic OMP start to join a session. It gives me the information about teamspeak, and then the addons, and then it gives me the Syntax Error. I have all the addons in the base, of which I know. Here is waht the text says:

Join us on Teamspeak omp.dyndns-server.com
You will need the following addons:
UmmU,UCGO,Orbitersound,XR1,XR2,XR5,
And Finally Install latest orbiter multiplayer last
^ Syntax error

And if trying to deconnect, it repeats, and gives me a syntax error.

You get this error if you enter a name that contains spaces as it says on the install page:

  • Enter Any(Your) User Name - No spaces, must be unique
  • Enter Any Password - No caps lock, must NOT be blank
I hope this solves your problem, otherwise it will be still a router problem.

I am usure which effects you are reffering to.
If you are talking about visual effects, I have all on without problems.
If you are talking about the parameters, such as complex flight model, nonspherical gravity sources etc. they are only going to affect your vessel. If you disable damage simulation it *should* affect all vessels including other players' vessels.

And I have problem-when I enter KSC with XR2 I can move time acceleration from 0.1 to normal..
OMP website said:
Why is my time acceleration stuck on 0.1x and does not move?
You will most likely have to forward a port in your router. See installation section.

I did (with help of risingfury) all setings on router but now when I connect it says-
Error joining the server! You are still online, try to solve the problem manually...

When that happens, don't press disconnect, just push the X button on the launch pad, and reopen orbiter. That always fixes it for me.

Aaargh, I'm so close.

I'm having problems: I log on OK, the MJD starts syncing happily, sometimes I even get to normal time. I see another player's vessel. After about 30 seconds, Orbiter simply CTDs.

I opened various ports, I tried not using a custom port in OMP - all the same thing!

What's going on? Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Ooops, over-reacting, she's working fine now!

Face do you have any plans for allowing OMP to work with the Orbiter 2010 newest beta. I ask this because DX11 client only works with the beta version of orbiter and OMP module will not load

No, I don't have plans to make it compatible with Orbiter beta yet. A beta mixed with a beta is certainly not a good idea.

The reason you want it - D3D11Client - is not a good one, too. There is a version of D3D11Client working for Orbiter 2010 P1 in my OVP repository, just as mentioned in the D3D11Client development thread here: http://www.orbiter-forum.com/showthread.php?p=337754&postcount=303

The statement there is still valid: while it might not reflect the latest and greatest of asmi's fork, I try to keep up and merge it back into the 2010P1 branch frequently. You can get the latest compiles (version 0.2) here: http://bitbucket.org/face/ovp/get/0.2.zip

OTOH, OMP was never tried or even meant for orbiter_ng.exe . It might work, but I don't want to debug it there yet.

Face

I'm getting this problem too.I can successfully play the OMP for a few secs but when it's full synced i get a CTD, as Face said he will not going to debug it too soon.So any suggestions?

Check out the documentation in /Doc/OMP/OMP.pdf . It contains a small checklist section with step-by-step instructions.

We have a small problem on the OMP server.

I noticed that it is getting dark very slowly at Wideawake Airfield on Ascension Island. I don’t know when this started, but it must be for a while now, at least since OMP version 0.6.1. I can manually adjustment the MJD after a restart with a other Linux script, but I would like to adjust the setting permanently back to a higher position for the sun, without setting MJD and keeping UTC as the server time.
I don't care if I have to set it 4 times a year. Somehow it did work till now.
Any ideas?

I think this is due to the earth's position around the sun is changing with UTC. With the rotation blocked in the ORL scenarios, this means a change of the sun's position through the year.

The MJD preset feature is already in the new server version (0.7.1). Just add an attribute 'MJD="<mjdstring>"' right beside the server's name attribute, with <mjdstring> being either a valid date string or a double value designating the MJD as it is displayed in Orbiter.

Face
