Out of curiousity I bought on of these calculators via ebay. Reason? It was a funky shade of blue, but more importantly these calculators were carried as backups on the Soyuz trips to Mir in case the computers failed.

The vf display is giving me trouble, but I believe this is due to the capacitors in the DC-DC converter failing. Also the keys are wobbly, probably due to the foam underlay no longer acting like foam.

Might be a little electronic project to get it fully working again.

Does anyone happen to have details of the pinouts for the EEPROM socket?

My other RPN (Reverse Polish Notation) calculator is a UK made ANITA 810 from the early 70s.

What a coincidence! I religiously watch Dave Jones and his EEVBlog on YouTube, and he had this calculator during his mailbag segment last monday. He had the same problem with the keys.

Looks cool, but I'll keep my HP-12C...

Here's the video. The segment with the calculator starts at 41:00.

If you have any trouble in display then must go for the testing of the driver circuit of your display. The capacitors in DC-DC converter can't make any trouble to display section. Sometimes the problem is also there in the connection lead, which get distorted sometimes.
