Next Orbiter version .. my thoughts

I got a new indea for addon classifications .. Addons that everyone wants but no one will play

Alan Sheppard and Tiger Woods Golf Game, A racing game .... Formula 1/6th, stuff like that!!!

I tried to recompile a VB5 app I made some time ago, using VB2005 and it could not import and handle array of controls. In VB5 the number of controls you can create is limited, so the only way to have many frames with their controls is to create arrays. It is easier to handle arrays too.

I hope it does not happen with old addons in VC++.
When MS moved from VB5 to VB6, and 6 to .net, they changed the language definition and so a lot of code for VB5 is incompatible with a VB6 compiler. Since MS is not in change of the C++ standard, they had to make the compiler work with the standard, that didn't change. Thus (barring a few minor tweaks) C++ code is unaffected by the change from VS6 to VS.Net (2003,5,8)

I've been out of the loop for a couple of years, and was kind of surprised that a new version had not come out yet. Hoping that the next version is close to release. Also, I think that people with old hardware shouldn't complain about newer version compatibility issues. I'm sure, even if there are major changes, modes will be established so older addons will still run. I also see that there seems to be a movement to separate the graphics from the physics so that 3rd parties can come in and work to improve the graphics (not that they're not good now, but there's alot of room for improvement). I think that that's a great idea just short of open sourcing the entire project. Either way, I'm semi-back, still spending alot of time in Second Life, but I've been playing around with Orbiter a bit lately too. By the way, I was at a science museum and saw a reference to orbiter. Can't remember exactly where, but there was an object, that when clicked, took you to the main orbiter site, which was cool to see. :)

Dear Spacenut;

Again maybe you miss uderstood me about older computers .. I have a brand new one .. I can do anything .. I think, but many others do not and my suggestion was made with them in mind

Many years ago, I was ADDDICTED to NASCAR racing simulators. Like Orbiter today, there were hundreds of guys who made programs, addon features, race logos, tracks and car paint schemes for every car racing back then. They made trucks years before it was added to the program officially. When Nascar Legends came out there were only 20 tracks of the over 40 driven for the 1970 season, few cars and no Daytona. Within months, a 1970's Daytona was available with all 40 tracks and a complete schedule and a full field of cars .. every paint job for every driver for that season. Then Papyrus made major changes wth the newer NASCAR programs ... it would not allow any addon tracks or features .. and few cars. It was as realiistic as the real racing cars and the graffics were too much for some with older computers to handle!!! The bottom fell out of the NASCAR online website community. Many guys I buddied up with and raced against on my computer .. just quit!!! Now I just play the same old games over and over again.

Spacenut .. I really don't wish that to happen with Orbiter.

I have, at various times, these last months, installed beta version, to give me an idea of the evolutions in progress. Without much of deepening, for lack of time. I thus probably passed beside a number of innovations. I discover, in the most recent version, the possibility of making a zoom on the panel of the DG using the wheel of the mouse. There are certainly many of other more essential things in last beta , but I appreciate really this new function.

Thank you.
