Hiya!

I just got orbiter four days ago, and I just thought I'd post to say hello and that I'm really enjoying it.

So far I've only used the Delta Glider or variants of it in various mods. Looking at the complexity of other ships is scary!

In these past few days I've learned how to get into orbit, and change it in height and direction to line up with space stations or anything else in orbit.

And an hour ago, I just did my first ever manual docking with the ISS. And oh my god is that the trickiest thing ever?!

The first couple of times I docked I used an auto-pilot.

But manual? It's sooo hard! I can get around 100Km away, but then I usually end up in a strange orbit trying to get closer, so half an orbit later I'm flying away from where I want to get to.

Anyway, after using ridiculous amounts of fuel and time, I managed to get close enough to try and manually dock. It was so tricky for me you wouldn't believe. I suppose it's harder than it should be because I only vaguely understand half my instruments.

The first time I tried to dock, I thought 0.5m/s would be great. Nice and slow I thought. Gives me plenty of time to line up properly.

Well, the ISS got a few dozen new dents in it from me now, and when I finally docked I was doing 0.03m/s I think. It's so tricky keeping everything lined up.

Anyway, it's great fun!

Maybe soon I'll figure out how to land back on earth without being 500Km out to sea. Or take a sight-seeing trip around the moon or something.

So, that's just about it. Sorry for going on about my newbie stuff!

Bye!

Docking gets easier after you do it a couple of times. Same with reentry.
Just make sure to use the Docking MFD. There are a couple of playbacks provided with Orbiter... watch those if you haven't already. They will teach you how to get to the ISS and dock easily, how to go to the Moon,...

Don't forget the old stand-by "Go Play In Space", it's very helpfull to new users. My own copy is highlighted and tabbed so much it almost unrecognizable.
