I'm not sure where the "stock cooler can't handle the 3770K" nonsense is coming from. I just tried it out on my machine: stock i7-3770K with the stock cooler. Using FFT-z, after five minutes at 100% the temperature was stable at 63°C, and according to the readout the processor was running at 4.4GHz (which seems odd to me, I thought the TURBO BOOST on the 3770K was only 3.9?)
Maybe Intel has changed something recently (I've had mine for only a couple weeks), or maybe some people have just ended up with bad parts for whatever reason, but I'm not seeing problems here.
Sure, 63°C isn't fantastic cooling, but I stand by my earlier statement that the stock cooler is plenty for stock speeds or mild overclocks.
