Good day all, I am an ex sea captain hence old salt, who has been a virtual flyer for many a year, joystick, rudder, throttle and aircraft carriers. So I have been doing for a week and the learning curve is steep. So much to learn, I can get to the moon but usually sail on by.
All the best

Welcome to Orbiter and the Forum.

The usual advice for new orbinauts is to look at Go Play In Space. It's a gentle introduction, and fun besides!

Welcome to the forums! :welcome:
I almost replied in pirate-speak, I'm an old salt myself (3.5 years at sea for the USN), nearly 4 months on my own dime for vacation purposes.

Go Play In Space is a good place to start. Some of the trickiest part is the language and three-letter-acronyms you'll have to learn. GPIS will help out quite a bit.

Stick with and you'll be docking w/ the ISS and landing at Brighton Beach before you know it.

Thank you very much for kind welcome.
Trying to learn the basics and not get distracted by all the goodies.
All th best

I was really into flight sims before getting into Orbiter as well.

Spaceflight is quite different from normal flight. In several ways, spaceflight is both counter-intuitive and unforgiving. There is no "turn around and go back" in spaceflight. Just be patient. The Delta Glider is a great spacecraft to learn with.

Welcome to the Forums !

And always Hail the Mighty Probe ! :hailprobe:
