Question, I've been playing with station building and was wondering if there is a way to use the docking MFD, or an addon MFD, that aligns two docks that are not on the focus vessel. i.e. if I am controlling a tug that is connected to module "A" and I want to align another one of that module's docks to a module "B"

activate the ExternalMFD module in the launch dialog,
after starting the simulation, switch to module A open a ExternalMFD select the DockingMFD set the docking port and click on the tack next to close and resize. now you can switch back to your tug. the ExternalMFD will still have the focus on the module A as long you don't unclick the tack.

Aha, It works!

Thanks.

Perhaps a future version of dock MFD could allow selection of any dock on the superstructure, instead of just the current vessel.

I know the Dragonfly has this ability built in, somehow. I can't remember the details, though.

It was simply a directional radar I think. I believe that it was supposed to serve the same purpose, although then you have to figure out the Dragonfly checklists, which is its own challenge.

Oh yea, I recall getting the DragonFly powered up could be interesting at times.
