I saw your , yet I think the most important item in the news article was the last sentence:

"Amid fears in the West that Iran is trying to develop nuclear weapons, some experts believe Iran's space program is possibly a cover to improve its military ballistic missiles."

Just keep in mind a lot of discoveries came from military experiments look at the soviets during the cold war with sputnik

And you are right about your concerns, However it would be interesting to see Iran get involved in space exploration
