This is a idea for a addon I have. The basic idea is to have this big interplanetary exploration ship, equipped with some docks for DG-sized ships, UCGO & UMMU compatability, a builtin lander, rover... And of course large O2 and fuel reserves.
The special thing about this would be that this ship would actually generate random, 3-dimensional terrain for you to explore, as well as random objects (rocks minerals etc...). Terrain could have valleys, mountains w/ valuable resources, and all sorts of things.
It would/could come with a "random solarsystem generator", but thats a high order!
Also a part of this would be vastly improved capability for building a base. First: There would be more "inflatable" modules. The people in the base, and on the ship, would eat food, drink water, etc. (UMmu's)
Another thing: Via "action areas", the new UMmu feature, you could actually interact with the base's equipment (which would be unpacked from UCGO cargoes): communicate with the "mother ship", base control, view maps...
A big part of this is about having a dynamic experience building the base. There would be farms, H2O processors, and all sorts of things you would need to do to establish the base.
About generating the terrain: it might have to be some sort of special vessel object or something. The idea is that it's spawned / generated, when the vessel (big one) lands.
Things you could do on the planet: drive rovers, and discover mountains, sample ground, air, etc.
Parts of planet / things to find on planets:
- Mountains.
- Valleys.
- Vents.
- Exotic gases which could, with "reasearch" by scientist UMMU's, be used as fuel/distilled for H2O/air.
