i have noticed that quite a few orbiter sites have this orbiter. before the website name does martin have his own webhosting? and if so is it free ?

The are many sites that match the search pattern "www.orbiter*" (including this one) but they are typically in different domains, and are not always related to the Orbiter Space Flight Simulator which has its home page here: http://orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/home.php

yes thats what i meen i see that migman is like a fan site sort of tihng so does migman host his own site or does martin?

URLs work like "subdomain.domain.extension"
The domain comes second. Meaning, orbiter.dansteph.com is part of dansteph.com. It does NOT mean it's part of an 'orbiter.com' like you seem to have thought.

He hosts his own, as far as I can tell. At least they are in different domains that are owned by different people and are on different servers.

As an example I have orbiter.gdwnet.com - the way it works is that I own the gdwnet part of the domain name and the orbiter part of it is a subdomain that I created.

Under gdwnet.com I have about 15 subdomains. It's a nice of way of hosting additional sites trying things out and so on without having to go to the expense of purchasing additional domains.

so did u get your domain for free?

Nope. I purchased it for 10 years via a domain hosting company. I then purchased a web hosting package and that's where everything lives now.
