i saw a video with someone doing that but I cannot find it again. He used the scenario editor to move his ship into a stable orbit. Anyone able to provide how to do this?
I used to do it the long way with the scenario editor:
* Raise the ship's SMa to a ridiculously high number.
* Lower the Ecc(entricity).
* Repeat steps 1 and 2 -- with step 1 raising the SMa by smaller amounts as needed.
What you'll see as you do this is twofold: the ship's altitude with regards to the central body will drop dramatically while forward velocity will increase. The trick here is to lower the eccentricity down to something like .3 or .2 (which depending on how high you made your initial SMa adjustment means holding the Ecc 'decrease' button for several seconds as the numbers tick down) without striking your ship against the atmosphere if your ship is sensitive to that kind of thing. Once you get down to that point of eccentricity things get less dramatic.
TL;DR: Bring your ship up, then flatten its eccentricity.
