Most of us have watched one or two of Tex's amazing Orbiter videos.
Just by watching those few minutes of video, one can understand that it takes a little bit of talent, and a whole lot of work to make a vid like that.
Everything, from camera angles, addons, and most especially music, is carefully selected and calculated, to be put together in one magnificent piece of art. - the video you just watched.

When you're making a film, you are the storyteller. You are depicting an event and then, you're conveying your version of how that event happened to your listeners/watchers.

This thread is dedicated to the art of making an Orbiter film. I hope that this will turn into a discussion about creating powerfull, cinematic experiences in Orbiter.

Just my two cents about technic.

I wanted to get a shot of a spaceplane comming out of a hangar.
It was mid-day in WHAP's Ascention Island, so the sun was almost directly overhead.
What i wanted to do, was to show the spaceplane, comming out of the shadowed hangar, into the light.
Unfortunately the default graphics engine of Orbiter doesn't allow "objects" to cast shadows on "vessels".
But there are ways around that: Creating a 2D semi-tranparent mesh and placing it almost in front of the hangar, did the trick.

Here is the (low resolution) vid, of how the shot turned up:
