General Question How to access orbital map in mid flight without having to look at the vague MFD?

How to access orbital map in mid flight without having to look at the somewhat vague MFD? The MFD gives details but does not illustrate info, that I can tell, would be helpful for interplanetary or same system transfer etc.

We see at the beginning of this video he opened a map ingame. What button is it that is used for this? I am looking through controls but cannot find it

The orbit drawing functionality used in this video is an addon called Videnie Orbit Drawing, which is shown on the title screen of the video:

Videnie raises an error if D3D9Client is installed on orbiter 2016 it works in standard mode

Since the creator of the Videnie add-on (@Artlav) has declared a retirement in add-on developing, we will never see any D3D9 update for Videnie. We should think some alternatives of Videnie as well.

What about an interactive window map?

In any case it was hooking up to fairly specific drawing calls that won't be present in a graphics client.
Back then that was the only option to draw an overlay of any kind, no idea what about now.
Probably something to be implemented in D3D9Client itself, really - that way you'd be able to avoid all sorts of bugs and issues like drawing over panels and UI.

It is itself a bit broken (I recall it crashing if launching Orbiter with F9-view activated, or something like that), but it is at least able to run, and it is a good start for further development. (Source code is included, under a permissive license)
