Gaming Hielor's Minecraft Server

Fantastic map orb. As I said before starting the farm with Artlav I will be okey with the reset of the end.

Why are there Blazes near the portal to the Bio-Dome?

Because 1.4.5 update fixed natural spawning of the blazes in Nether fortresses, and there's probably a place with low light level around (I encountered 1 blaze at the Bio Dome Brown Line station, too).

EDIT: I've placed 4 iron golems near the Bio-Dome Brown Line end station (2 on the upper level and 2 on the lower level). They should somehow protect you from blazes spawning around.

Incredible map Orb, now the IronFarm and GoldFarm is connected via the nether, I shall dub the Orange line as the HyperInflation Transport Line then :P

Speaking of nether rail lines, i've secured the old road to Gold Farm, and extended the black line over it.

It would take you to the station at the upper levels of the Gold Farm - the Gold Farm Resource Centre.

From there you can continue on to the nearby Rosewood (rail line planned, but needs a spawn denial design)

Visit the Golden Mirror base in the overworld, which is the main on-site resource supply location, featuring a slime farm and a cobblestone generator.

Or, proceed down to the collector area and the HIT line station.

Hm, so when i build the Diamond Farm i'd better place it along the Orange line?
Ok.

1.5 blocks above the track (upside down slabs on ceiling) is quite good spawn denial design if you don't change the level (it needs to be flat to the gold farm perimeter, turns are allowed), as proven by the Orange Line design in the Gold Farm direction. If you need to get off the cart in the middle of the journey, then it's the best to make a slab walkway next to the track, to allow you to exit from under the slab which is over the track.

BTW, Minecraft 1.4.6 has been pre-released today, and its official (launcher) release is planned for Dec. 20. Remember to make a backup of your 1.4.5 minecraft.jar before updating, as the new version won't be compatible with 1.4.4/1.4.5 servers.

And we will have once more the problem with the server updates. I Dont know why they dont work more with servers and provide the updates more quickly. And cant imagine why they dont provide a solution for people that dont want to reset his world server every update, which means maybe every 3 months.

Unfortunately, I will be out of town starting on the 21st. If a beta release of Bukkit is available on the 20th, I'll update before I leave; otherwise, it'll have to wait until I get back, which will be before the end of the year.

And Delta Glider Island is complete!

It doesn't have the side windows of the original, but I think this looks better. And those torches are there because I'm kinda paranoid about monsters spawning.

I just managed to log into this server for the first time. What can I say, nice job guys! :D
My only problem is that due to problems with my ISP I can't log on at times that people other than me are online without lagging really badly, so my progress is probably going to be really slow on this server... So hang on tight :P
I'll try to see if I can find my way out of the spawn city to build my house in a more secluded location. Cheers fellows! Can't wait to blend in ;)

Are you sure that's not just because of the End of the World?

Why do you think I'm going to be out if town? I'll be spending the day at a secure location!

If you're looking for some obsidian, I may be able to help you out. I had an obsidian 'generator' of sorts, but I haven't used it since several updates back, so I don't know if it even still works. I think I left some obsidian in a chest in my old commune building. I've been meaning to head back to the commune anyway, since it's been some time since I've been there.

FWIW, I've confirmed my obsidian generator is still fully functional as of 1.4.5. Yield is 12 obsidian per run, in exchange for 12 redstone.

Here is where I got the generator design, way back in beta 1.8:

A couple questions from a "Nether-noob."

1. Any advice when building a railway in the Nether? What to do, what not to do, that sort of thing. Build a walkway first then add rails later? Only use netherrack or nether brick? etc., etc.
2. Orb - any chance you'd know the Z coord of the station below your lighthouse, and any issues with me connecting to it from my southern location via Nether portal I created last night (Indiana time)? Z coord of my portal is ~295.

Thanks,

I build a corridor for the railway first, and then lay the tracks down (before doing it, I first count blocks and place marks on my minimap where to put boosters, and if you ask me about powering boosters, I prefer using levers, hidden behind the wall (a lever can be placed on underside of the block too)).

People usually use netherrack, probably because it's abundant in Nether, but it's also fragile (if somebody wanders outside of your tunnel, ghasts shooting at them can break its walls, and sometimes there's a bug when a ghast tries to shoot you through a wall). I use stone bricks for walls of all my railroads in Nether instead.

I'm not sure what station below my lighthouse you are talking about. If it's my brown station, then it's next to the lighthouse portal. In the Nether, the coordinates of my portal are: -139,65,143 (in Overworld: -1107,75,1139). There is an unfinished rail line nearby, but it's above and not below my portal, and it leads to Winter Island's portal.

I think the closest railway to your portal would be the one to Winter Island. It crosses Z=295 at X=-114 to -116, Y=73. I don't know who built it, but it's unfinished. It ends somewhere right over my Lighthouse-Commune part of the Brown Line.

This might be the easiest route. I'll start with that one. Thanks.

Which minimap are you using?

Sorry, in my mind, Nether=below, so yes, the one by your lighthouse portal was the one I was referring to. I'll shoot for the Winter Island one instead (may just finish it out to Winter Island when I'm done).
