Hey everyone. I'm just about 14 - two weeks away :P - and I've been playing orbiter for a few weeks now. However, I just came to this discussion board for the first time.

Just figured I'd pop in and say hello to my fellow space enthusiasts! It's great, not really any of my friends are interested in astronomy, astronautics or anything, so it's awesome to find this kind of a community!

So far orbiter has been a great experience. I started out completely confused and dumbfounded but I've kind of messed about with it enough that I'm just starting to get a feel for it. I've learned a lot about space flight mechanics, just by getting some hands on feel for it! Spending days on end reading books will only get you so far I suppose ^_^ so it's awesome.

So hello everyone!

Welcome to the orbiter community. As Izak said, it's always great to see more Canadians here! Orbiter is one of those things where rolling up your sleeves and trying things will help you a lot. There are some really good tutorials around as well that will help you master the various skills. You'll discover pretty qickly that achieving things such as your first manual launch and orbit insertion, your first rendezvous, your first docking, your first trip to the moon, your first trip to another planet and your first re-entry and landing provide a real sense of satisfaction. Don't get discouraged - many of those skills take a lot of effort to learn but this is a vibrant community of dedicated enthusasts from around the globe and you will find people here to be extremely helpful and willing to answer questions and provide expertise.

Welcome to OF! I'm not from Canada, but at least we're both Commonwealth! :)

Thanks for the kind welcomes everyone - I can already clearly see this is an awesome helpful community :D.

And yeah, so far I've only truly accomplished re-entry and landing, but yeah, the satisfaction is great! I need to try some tutorials though, I kind of just tinkered a lot to get a feel for the flying over a lot of playing to do it successfully. And boy, for a simulator, this game is very captivating I find, the precision and tight control, calculations, and the very essence of what you are simulating truly make it great!

And thanks, I'll be sure to enlist the help of the kind people here as time goes on. Good to see a few Canadians too!

:welcome: I'm Canadian on the technicality of having been born in Ottawa, though I've never actually lived there.
