Hey all, new to orbiter and thought I'd sign up for the forums seems like a pretty nice place. My name is Patrick, was looking for a space simulator the other day because I watched Apollo 13 for the umpteenth time. I'm pretty much a jack of all trades geek who's been into astronauts, space, traveling in space, pretty much anything to do with actual space since I was a kid. Don't get me wrong I like star wars, star trek as much as the next guy, but I've always found the real thing so much more interesting.

Hopefully I'll get to know some of you and hopefully some of you will be able to answer any of my "I'm stupid at the moment" questions.

Welcome to the O-F :welcome:.

BTW, i was looking for a simulator after i watched Apollo 13 aswell.

:welcome: to the forum theoriginalchill AKA Patrick.

Feel free to ask any question and nearly always someone can give you an answer! :)

Scruce.

:welcome: to the forums! And we can answer all your questions, no matter how I'm-stupid-at-the-moment they are. That's why this forum exists, right?

Among other things...

Wow thanks for the warm welcome. I hope to be around for awhile, seems like every time I open Orbiter I find something new to play with. Right now I'm getting my PS3 controller to work as a joystick, after some problems with it causing my mouse to drop out I got it going last night but fell asleep after. So tonight I will try again, and mostly try and figure out transx.

Thanks Hal9001, thanks Stevodoran glad to see there are fellow Apollo junkies here. Thanks Scruce I'm sure I'll have a few questions. Thanks Spacethingy, and don't worry I have lots of them lol. Thanks Rtyh-12, glad to see a forum used for Q&A, I've been in some that are just a soap box.

Thanks all again for the welcome.

:welcome: to Orbiter-Forum!

TransX is a big thing to start out with. Perhaps start a little smaller, like launching into a decent orbit or navigating to the Moon using Transfer MFD.

Welcome to the community! Happy orbiting and hail probe!

The 'I'm stupid at the momen' questions are basically all I ask! All the time!

when I see a thread title I am most tempted to post

Hello, Kitty

hi and welcome:cheers:
if you are at the very beginning of your experience as an orbinaut, the best thing you could do is to read GoPlayInSpace, you can find it on Orbiter's main page... I began this way and I found it very helpful!

:welcome: to the forum!

Another sci-fi/space geek Apollo 13 fan here as well. Have seen it umpteen thousand times myself. In fact, I just watched it on Netflix on my PS3 over the weekend (I own 2 copies of the DVD, I just did it because I could :P )

I believe there is no such thing as a stupid question. And as bande suggested, GoPlayInSpace is the absolute best place to start.

Have fun, and happy orbiting!

Thanks for the welcome. I got orbits and transferring to the moon down, then went to aligning orbits, then docking. The last two have been the most difficult. Just starting to learn about transx so when I get ready to head to mars I'll be ready. ;)

So finally got my PS3 controller all set up, took off, hit orbit, synced with the ISS, and docked. Wow a joystick can really help with that especially with a PS3 remote and a few addons. Drifting down pull up on the controller, speed up or slow down use a few buttons. Now I think I really love this.
