I'm new to orbiter and thought i would regale you all with how truly awesome this sim is. I started out with the Providence freighter in earth orbit, and did a lunar insertion (took a few laps to get the ole girl up to escape speed). I made a small retrograde burn midcourse to get things lined up, and nailed my lunar insertion first time round. peA was 13k, and after insertion, I aligned my orbit from equtorial to polar at the moon and docked with the station there. Took me about 3 hours(with time warp) for the whole trip as the providence is a whale(if you never played the game it comes from), and was just freakin astounded by the way everything worked and flowed. I came here just to see what other wonders could be waiting out there that you all could share. To a long and fruitful voyage.

Yours,
Shortstar

Welcome to the forums ! :welcome:

As you guessed, they are lots and lots of things to discover & explore... and even more !

:welcome: to Orbiter-Forum, and Orbiter! Sounds like you're doing well already, there's plenty to see and do.

Seriously, you can't go anywhere further than about GEO without time acceleration without having to sit and watch for a very, very long time. It takes me on average 3~4 months to get to Mars with my usual flight plan - imagine actually sitting playing Orbiter for all that time!

...What? You said it was a whale... :shifty:

:welcome: to the forum!

Sounds like to had a pretty successful first go there. If you haven't tried docking yet, that should be your next challenge.

I did get it docked up, it was quite interesting. The providence BARELY fits on the lunar station, I think I'm gonna take it on to Mars next.

Welcome! Sounds like you had a great mission! Here's to many more!
