News Heathrow reopens after Boeing Dreamliner 787 fire

It's very ironic that a device meant to help in cases of a serious problem actually caused a serious problem. We also still don't know what tech issue that Thompson 787 had.

Hmm - Lithium ion batteries again, but not in the main battery banks this time.

Why again do lithium ion batteries fail in Boeings but in the mobile phones they're functioning nominal for years?

I believe in another thread there was discussion of heat and air flow at least. (but I can't say that they aren't perhaps also having electrical issues)
As xkcd teaches us, your mobile batteries are very dangerous outside of the right environment.

There's a reason I usually keep out of such discussions, I just love planes too much :lol:. You could get me into any Dreamliner or "unsafe Russian plane" at once.

I know a guy who is an aircraft engineer and works in Moscow branch of Boeing, they are mostly busy with the Dreamliner blueprints, so are you sure you are talking of different things? :rofl:

you'd fly each one once and throw it in the ocean.

Why not ? :hmm:

Landing would be like :

:bailout::bailout::bailout::bailout::bailout::bailout::bailout::bailout:

:lol:

Argh, took me a while to understand this one :rofl:

Oh, and mobile phone batteries... :
