This canuck doesn't get days off on July 1st as he prefers milk in cartons to milk in bags. 
I do recall twice seeing Canuckistani fireworks on the 1st instead of American on the 4th. The first experience was pleasant, we got to Parliament hill early (I believe it was Parliament hill. I'm not too familiar with the layout of Ottawa, which is sad considering I was born there), and were able to get a nice spot to sit down with a good view.
The second experience was not so pleasant. We got on a crowded bus to downtown that got us there in time to see part of the show over the rooftops. The combined effect of exhaust, burnt gunpowder, second hand tobacco, and second hand marijuana gave me an unpleasant buzz. Then we took a crowded bus back.
