News Gaddafi is killed

Is this what freedom and democracy looks like?

It looks like he was killed in a real fight, so i'd say noone can be blamed for executing him. People die in firefights all the time.

On the other hand, I think noone would say that freedom and democracy are the current state in libya. I don't even think they have an official government yet...

I am disappointed that he is dead.

It is a loss. It would sure have been better if he could have been captured and brought to atone for what he has done.

But not to worry! Since some people apparently hate the US so much (or love dictators so much), they just can't avoid fitting some criticism of the situation in edgewise, and therefore according to them no trial is fair and killing the guy on-site is better. But killing him on-site isn't fair either.

But apparently letting him continue his rule no matter what, just so that the Evil American Pigs don't get involved in the situation at all, is fine.

Because all of Libya loves Muammar Gaddafi, right?

Yeah. Ever heard of Madame La Guillotine?

Because that worked so well for the French, and resulted in a peaceful transfer to a free state.

Again, I appreciate that the movement against Gaddafi started out of noble intentions and had worthwhile goals. However, I really don't believe starting a civil war, with a western intervention that turned the country to rubble was worth it.

It also bears to mention that as of yet, there are no signs that any of the goals (other than "Gaddafi's head on a post") have actually been accomplished. There isn't much to judge until the revolution is said and done. Until then, we can only offer constructive criticism of the methods and parties involved in it.

I'm not surprised. They were probably under orders to just kill him outright.

Here's to hoping the open warfare is shut down long enough for something to good to happen.

That image, although graphic, is confirmation. It's him.
As for nations born in violence, what about the US of A? Revolutionary War, anybody?

Why do you seriously think that the Libyan people rebelled against Gaddafi?

Also, have you ever considered what would have happened in Libya had the Evil Western Pigs not gotten involved?

Why not ask a Libyan- heck, all of Libya, whether it was "worth it"?

I am sorry, but I just think that some people are so caught up in their distrust (or even downright hatred) of certain countries, that they ignore the actual situation and what is actually at stake.

And you know what? I would absolutely love to do that. I am so sick of being lied to and having my opinion manipulated by the selective filtering of the media. I would jump at a chance to be able to go to Libya and get a first hand account of the situation. I would love to hear the stories and the opinions of the people that live that reality every day. An unbridled account of the state of life there; only then would my opinion truly mater and carry any weight.

Since they are waving royalist flags, I think sooner or later they'll install a King who will bring the country to reasonable steadiness, well-doing and justice... as much as can be expected from a Middle-Eastern king. Who minds if a little trickery is applied in the process of his ascension or few people mistreated or disappeared?..

Turns out Qaddafi was tortured after all.

Nobel Peace Prize winner is delightful with glee at the news of the lynching... Even the little tweat from the Red Square has Qaddafi's blood on his hands.

Humanity has not gone far away from the savage state; under the thin veneer of civilization lurk unimaginable fiends.

Every leader of a state worthy of mentioning has some blood on his hands. I'd not weep about Gaddafi much: he must have known what was coming. He could flee if he had chosen so. He didn't even commit a suicide, so he's more brave than Hitler. He has chosen his own path and his own end. What's done is done.
