Hello, friends. :)

Several years ago, someone on this board posted the link to a magnificent song released by...someone... called 'fire in the sky'. It was a haunting, lovely piece of music relating the rise of manned spaceflight from mythical Prometheus to Icarus to the real-life heroes of the last century. I would love to find that link again. Does anyone know what the bloody blazes I'm talking about, and can they point me to the right link? I regret that my Internet searching skills are terrible; I haven't been able to find it on my own. (It's entirely possible that my habit of becoming totally enraptured by the legs of Abba lead singer Frida is a signifigant distraction...searching apparently takes a certin amount of concentration. :D )

OK - I admit it; I'm an idiot. Total Wheatly material, I am. (Let's see if anyone catches that reference! LOL)

It took me all of ten seconds to find the song on Youtube after I posted this request. Duh...

But the original link I'm looking for was downloadable. You see; I have the hankering to produce another sim video and having fallen in love with this lovely song have been rehearsing the proposed vid in my mind. I'd like to find the song and download it so I can begin work. The question therefore still stands: Does anyone know where the downloadable song still exists?

Thanks. :)

That one?
Gagarin was the first, back in nineteen sixty-one,
When like Icarus, undaunted, he climbed to reach the Sun.
And he knew he might not make it, for it’s never hard to die...
But he lifted off the pad, and rode a fire in the sky!

I got it in mp3 here, and the metadata have this link in it - www.prometheus-music.com/space.html

I don't quite remember where it came from, except for a feeling that someone on the forum wrote it.

Also, if you want the audio from a YouTube Video, might I suggest a site like SnipMP3?

Heart-touchin bearing in mind the passing of Neil Armstrong.

The artist is an American folk singer Kristophe Klover. The composer and songwriter, while it would be nice if he was a member of the forum, alas, is/was not.

Ah ... found it. The composer is Dr. Jordin Kare ... fascinating man. Try this link about him: [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jordin_Kare"]Jordin Kare - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame]

Artlav's link is correct. If you still cannot find the file, let us know. I'm sure one of us can send a copy.

Yeah just throw references at the wall and see what sticks, Cave Johnson style.

Thanks for the help guys - on night shift at the time; I'll try downloading it when I have the chance.

Heh heh - best voice actor ever: "Those of you testing the repulsion gel, just follow the blue line on the floor. Those of you who volunteered to be injected with preying mantis DNA; I have good news and bad news. The bad news is that test has been postponed indefinetely. The good news is we have a new test for you: fighting off an army of mantis men. So grab a rifle; you'll know when the test starts."
