This is the initial release of the Energia-M rocket.

Idealized in the early 1990's to compete with other available launchers in the 30 ton range, the Energia-M utilized hardware from the super-heavy Energia rocket.  Due to political pressures, the Angara launcher was instead chosen to be the developed and the Energia-M was cancelled.

To install; simply unzip into your Orbiter folder, while keeping directory structure.

Multistage2 (not included) and stage.dll (also not included) are the only required dependencies, see the users guide for recommended add-ons to enhance the visual appeal.

Happy flying and Hail Probe!

It's finally out, cool!

I'll give it a spin as soon as it finishes, I can probably use it to launch some of my heavier payloads for my VSA.

Ditto on this, the Energia-M and the Dnepr could become the mainstay of my VSA operations.

Nice project, love the details on the boosters and on the Energia core, I will go and launch a Tyazhely Mezhplanetny Korabl now!

Thanks! I think the only thing it really needs now is more me to learn to texture a bit better for the fregat tug. The mesh for it looks pretty good, and if you have the Soyuz series from Mustard and No Matter, it's easy enough to swap mine out for theirs.

I didn't test launch anything over 30 tons, but I did put that 30 tons into a 400x400 orbit (Artlav's UAP is a wonderful addition to my MFD collection). So, this should launch anything in the "realistic" range of station modules. I'm tempted now to try to take the Corot telescope to lunar orbit... LTMFD here I come...

Energia M manual said:
I’ve included a EnergiaMfairing.jpg; this is for the end user to modify the “nose art” of the
rocket. I thought should a few users desire to use the –M in their own missions, or VSA, that
they might wish to customize the rocket to fit their needs

Absolutely perfect:thankyou:

Now I can really have my own launcher for the VSA.

Awesome job! Looks & performs great!

Great Work !!!
Little issue though; when using Autolaunch the fairing seperated before the boosters were jettisoned ( had to manually jettison boosters since they did not auto jettisoned).
Anybody else have this issue ?

oops; nevermind.....................I had unlimted fuel on........................:)

Awesome job PhantomCruiser, keep up the great work!

The “nose art” customization is a GOOD idea that i will use in the next update of the Jarvis fleet of rockets.

Potential issue: in the italian forum, a CTD in the Bajkonur scenario was reported.

I shall take a look at it, but as a guess (and only guessing) that it might be that the Energy Tower is missing from his installation, [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=4186"]Baikonur LC 250 (UKSS), release 1[/ame].

Have him edit the scenario to get rid of everything but the -M rocket and see if it works.

edit- I just gave it a try on an "ultra-clean" installation, and after editing it worked fine. I sneaked over to FOI to take a peek at what he'd written, and I'd bet a cold carbonated beverage that a missing UKSS is the culprit.

I don't mean to be a downer, but I do have one request, should you design to do a V-2.

The lines on the rocket, rather, the grooves, would probably look a little better if they were actually represented on the mesh rather than the texture.

My :2cents:

I disagree... maybe the grooves can be better, but even with the textures a good result can be reached.

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question - is this a part / update for Energy project addon?

Not a part of Yuri's (most excellent) Energy Project.

From the outset this was intended to be a stand-alone launch system. But after seeing how silly it seemed to launch it (a Soviet era medium to heavy lift rocket) from KSC, I thought that it would make a nice companion to the UKSS and SRC launch facilities, and modified the .cfg files to fit both sites. So if a user has the Energy Project, then this dovetails pretty well, but it isn't a requirment.

Now that the world has changed, I may try (read try) to fit some sort of launch facility into the Kourou launch site. After all, they can launch a Soyuz now, and it's a Soviet era rocket...

I was looking for a project, and I'd noticed that the Energia-M had not been done, but then again it never flew either.
