Programming Question editing .cfg files

.cfg .scn (spacecraft3).ini and even .msh can all be opened, viewed and modified with Notepad safely, in fact use Notepad exclusively for those file types. (don't modify .msh files unless you know what you're doing, just look and learn first)

EDIT:
The reason you don't want to use Word, Wordpad or any more advanced text editor is that it is very easy to accidentally save some font, formatting or other information that would corrupt the file. It works if you're careful, but Notepad already has everything you need.

MSH files are 3D objects.
This tool might be helpful to view them

The manual has an explanation of how to understand the contents of 3D objects in Orbiter.
To modify objects you may like to export to AN8 (Anim8tor format) or OBJ (Wavefront format). Anim8tor is a free modeller. Other more professional modellers accept OBJ format.

Oh. I've been using Wordpad the whole time, because whenever I open something in Notepad, the font is huge and I can't see a thing.

Ah. Works fine now. Thanks, tgep.
