Hey there. I've never had this happen before but I recently reinstalled Orbiter again. For some reason my framerates and performance go to a crawl(borderline freezes) when I go into the 2D panel views. When I go outside and pan around everything is fine and dandy.

Is there a specific order that the DIV likes to be installed in to work properly? Like I said this is the first time out of a long time use of the DGIV addon that I've had this happen.

I do my best to enjoy what I can with Orbiter but its almost a given that I also end up running into crashes. I've had a few but they are not too bad. Just this DGIV problem makes it unplayable and its one of my favorite addons.

Also, does Jonesoft mod enabler work with Orbiter? That might help me prevent crashes and or at least allow me to easily remove offending items. Thank you.

It definately is the 2D panel that's the issue but I don't know why. I installed a fresh Orbiter install. The only two things that I added to this new install was spacecraft3 and multistage along with their little 2006P1 updates. The spacecraft3 is what adds the generic 2D panel I believe. Once again, fresh install with only these two features added. I went to the DG scenario where you are at KSC. The 3D virtual cock pit is fine. External views are fine. However, as soon as I go to the 2D panel, it goes to a crawl. I try to pan around but it stutters something awful and its nonplayable. Why would a 2D panel be intensive. Is there something I'm missing? I've never had this happen. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Well, with a clean install for DGIV I install in the order of...

Orbiter
Orbiter Sound
UMmu
DGIV
->DGIV Addons if required

If I remember correctly the DGIV 2D panel requires sound in order to operate (and i'm assuming that the 3D virtual Cockpit you refer to is in other craft.)

I really can't offer much help, sorry. If you don't have UMmu there might not be any issues, you just can't do EVA's.

Thanks Sherrif for responding. It actually turned out to be anti aliasing that was the culprit. I have a Nvidia card and someone over at Dan's forum told me there are Orbiter issues when using nvidia cards and AA. I turned AA off and it smoothed up for me. Still strange though that you can't have AA on through a 2D panel yet in a virtual cockpit(which I would assume to be the more intensive of the two) its fine. Ah well. Everything is A OK now.

Strange, I use 8*FSAA in orbiter with an Nvidia 8800GTS card and I've never noticed any considerable slowdowns with 2d panels.

I'm on a slower computer and a GeForce4 Ti 4600. I imagine the more current cards would have no problems.
