so I'm in the middle of building a new ISS using the station building blocks add-on. I got 6 parts in orbit on the XR5 and have a 2nd XR5 in orbit. Problem is when I spawn a Dragonfly then dock it to the station everything is fine, but when I try to get into the ship it crashes. I thought it was my senerio but it is the ship itself, if I load up a senerio with just the Dragonfly it crashes, if I spawn a Dragonfly with any senerio and then enter the ship it crashes. Any ideas? I tried to use a new one I downloaded after I kept crashing but it also crashes the game. Addon is called Work pod. (disabled all addons, still same problem)

Could you post your orbiter.log here?

all addons disabled. Cant see any problems in log.

it happens all the time, I cant fly the dragonfly at all, if its set as focus then its ok, but if its set as main ship it crashes, inside or out view

Might be helpfull. After adding "word pod" it does not show up anywhere except in the added senerio. going to a new senerio and trying to add the work pod I cant find it. I think it uses the same files as the dragonfly. I looked for spacecraft.dll in orbit hanger but could only find spacecraft3.dll.

On my main PC, which is a using windows 7 64, Dragonfly is crashing every time, unless I'm running orbiter in windows XP compability mode.
The only apparant difference I can see, is the task bar disappears, when running in XP compability mode. It seems orbiter isn't running in a "true" full screen mode by default with windows 7, perhaps it could be the issue. I haven't looked into it, since it seemed to cure my crashes.

You don't need spacecraft.dll since you have spacecraft3.dll
Anyway, the place to download Vinka's modules is here: http://users.swing.be/vinka/

You can't just add spacecraft3 vessels with scenario editor. Well, in fact you can, you'll have to tweak some configs abit first, there was an instruction for that somewhere on this forum. The easiest way to add a spacecraft3 vessel to your scenario is simply to copy/paste it from addon scenario to your own. Or you can use Artlav's tool [ame="http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=5177"]Spacecraft3 to DLL&C++ converter 110509[/ame] and make almost any spacecraft3 vessel into .dll which can be easily added into simulation using scenario editor. Don't know if it will work with Work Pod, but you could try.

And, yes, Work Pod and Dragonfly is absolutely different matters, no connection at all.

Just tried Dragonfly in Orbiter v.100830 under Win7 with and without WinXP compatibility mode - everything works just fine. The only weird thing I've noticed is that Docking panel was looking like a black rectangle for a few seconds when I enabled 2D-cockpit.

coffeene, try the same thing with clear Orbiter install, please.

winxp Compatability mode service pack 3 worked. Kinda. I can now enter the Dragonfly and manover but using the editor to dock crashes the game.

actually, anything in space causes CTD. vanguard on ground, can switch to ship, vanguard in orbit, CTD. DG4 on ground, fine, Ravenstar on ground, fine, Switch to a station module in orbit, CTD.

DETECTED: Spacecraft3.dll

I removed it from the modules folder, re-ran and now I can switch between all ships. Have to be in compatibility mode for winxp SP3 though but its working now.

odd, I thought spacecraft3.dll was needed for some ships.

It is.
Try to download spacecraft3.dll patch from Vinka's site. Hint: compatible spacecraft3.dll must be 151522 bytes of size. Maybe you've installed obsolete version of this module.

Only for some add-ons. None of the stock vessels require it (so Dragonfly too), but Spacecraft3 add-ons do.

Maybe you've installed obsolete version of this module.
Most of Spacecraft3 add-ons include Spacecraft3.dll, which was available at the time that add-on was released. If you install Spacecraft3 add-ons released before October 2006, the Spacecraft3.dll will most likely be replaced by older, incompatible with Orbiter 2006-P1 and newer versions.

I downloaded the new spacecraft3.dll file but it still wont load the dragonfly with it in the orbiter folder, maybe I'm putting it in the wrong place?

Everything is working fine now as far as I can tell. Now all I need to do is figure out how to change the COG in the dragonfly then I can make a station faster.

Could you please post here any scenario you're having CTD with while spacecraft3.dll is installed?

The Dragonfly does not require spacecraft3.dll to run and the problems with it are unrelated to spacecraft3 (at least for me).

Looks like your problems are different. Do you have the same CTD with Dragonnfly with fresh Orbiter install?

Yup, thats what my problem is also, remove spacecraft3.dll and its fine.

Also I'd prefer not to uninstall orbiter again, I've done it so many times already I'm getting sick of doing it everytime something breaks. I dont think I have any spacecrafts that use spacecraft3.dll so I'm just going to run it without it for now untill I finnish this station, or I really need it. Just finnished crashing, I mean landing, the XR5 to reload. Still cant figure out how to change the center of gravity on the dragonfly though. Really hard to move parts around without having a good COG.

One last question, has anyone made a station using the building blocks and connected the solar panels? the dragonfly doesnt seem to want to dock to it and using a UMMU to do it still wont connect to anything.

You don't need to uninstall Orbiter to have some fresh install of it. It is not using Windows registry, you can have as many Orbiter copies simultaneously as you want. Just install them in different folders.

What solar panels are you talking about exactly? If you mean BP101-104 solar panels which are the part of Space Station Building Blocks addon then I must tell you it is spacecraft3-powered since it uses animation. If you're using some other solar panel - please specify which one exactly.

Yes. Focusing the camera on the Dragonfly is fine but as soon as I switch input focus to the Dragonfly Orbiter CTDs.

Don't know what to say, really. My Dragonfly works perfectly even with Orbiter install heavily crowded with all kinds of addons. Just checked it in some default scenarios and added it into Planetarium scenario with ScenEd. Everything works fine.

I decided to give spacecraft3.dll another try, oddly it worked. Can now enter the dragonfly but still have to use xp sp3 compatability mode, however the COG of the dragonfly still will not shift. When trying to translate with an object atached the center of gravity needs to shift (towards the back of the dragonfly I assume?) but it will not shift, and the 2nd display will not turn on or work in any other manner. Other buttons do absolutly nothing as well, I read the pdf but it doesnt say anything helpfull.
