Hi, guys!

I got a feature request for the next version of orbiter: is the more deeper blue atmosphere for earth which it'll make the atmosphere look more realistic. Thanks!

Cheers,
Vincent

I believe that there are addons that can correct this. Check the Hangar and see.

Yup, here's Earth... [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=4665"]More Realistic Earth Atmosphere V3.5[/ame]

I learned how to edit the con figs and fine tuned my own, its pretty easy once you get the hang of it! I also redid titan to closely resemble cassini images.

Hi, guys!

I think the next version of orbiter will probably have more realistic atmosphere color for planets Earth, Mars, and ect. Thanks!

Cheers,
Vincent

Really? Didn't know you were working on it. Do tell us what your plans are.

The most difficult part is getting the atmospheres to look good from both ground and orbit. In the end it is a compromise. I think people usually like to see over-saturated colors on a monitor anyhow...unless its a gritty FPS, then the colors have to be bland and washed out

Hi, ADSWN!

I'm not working on the atmosphere colors at all, I'm just posting a feature request like improved atmosphere colors for planets Earth, Mars and ect. for the next version of orbiter. Thanks!

Vincent

Deeper blue?

How blue do you want it to be? I know I did some tweaking to mine, but not too much, and it looks pretty close to what I have seen in pictures of LEO.

Of course, a picture only tell a very specific part of the whole visual story.

Hi, Cras!

In the next version of orbiter, I want the atmosphere for earth to be deep blue like it is in real life. Thanks!

Vincent

Can you give us a comparison picture of what you're asking for and what we have currently?

Hi, Hielor!

Here is the comparison between the sky colors. The 1st picture is the deep blue sky when on the ground, the 2nd picture is the dull sky color when on the ground from the orbiter photo gallery, and the 3rd picture is the dark blue sky I think taken from the concorde flying at the altitude of about 60,000 feet. The 2nd picture which is the picture of the sky color when on the ground from the orbiter photo gallery is way dull compared to the 1st picture of the deep blue sky when on the ground, and the 3rd picture of the dark blue sky taken from the concorde flying at the altitude of about 60,000 feet. Please see attached. you'll get an idea what I mean. Thanks!

Cheers,
Vincent

I'm fine with the default atmospheric color, but i sort of tweaked it to make it look just a bit like the first one..

The sky colour in Orbiter may be a reflection of the fact that its author is living in the UK. We don't often see a blue sky here, so it's done mostly from memory. I've made it as blue as I could with a good conscience, without turning it into a cartoon.

How were these images calibrated?

If the sky was the color in the picture with palm trees, it would be too dark. Its too saturated with indigo, a color with very low value. Athena's got a better color there IMO
